What is Sand Sculpture Art?

It is a type of art that has become quite widespread in the world in recent years. It is made using only sand and water. Of course, not all sand can be used in these sculptures. When it is right next to Lara Beach in Antalya, “Those who have made it close to the sand, buy and use it.” There are those who think that, but sea sand is definitely not used. It is necessary to use appropriate sand according to the size of the sand sculpture to be made. The biggest difference from other sculptures we know is that it is made knowing that it will disappear after a while.

When Can It Be Visited?

Sandland, which is open for 12 months of the year, is the first and only in the world with this feature. During the summer period, from May 1 to November 1, 09.30 – 23.00; In the winter period, that is, between 1 November and 1 May, it can be visited between 09.00 and 19.00.

Where is Antalya Sandland?

Antalya Sandland is located in Lara Mevkii, approximately 12 km from the center of Antalya, or more precisely from Kaleici. While you’re at the museum, you can also enjoy the sea-sand-sun at Lara Beach, which is right next to it. You also have the chance to enjoy the Mediterranean on private or public beaches.

Are Sand Sculptures Susceptible to Damage?

The sand sculptures in Sandland are resistant to certain intensities of wind and rain. Small distortions that may occur after heavy rain are re-corrected by the artists. If the damage is great, it is demolished and rebuilt by artists.

Antalya Sandland currently continues to host its visitors with the theme of “Sea Legends”. Serving with the slogan of the World’s Most Fantastic Museum, Sandland Antalya has many mythological assets from the Far East to America, from the Middle East to Europe.

In addition to the sand sculptures you will see inside, there is also a workshop for children. With kinetic sand, children can spend time with fun activities that increase their creativity.

Inside, there are dozens of sand sculptures that will attract the attention of everyone from 7 to 70. You can see many mythological and legendary heroes associated with the “Sea Legends” theme, as well as cartoon heroes. Of course, there is no need to put them all one by one and turn the museum into a movie with an ending, but we will try to give you some clues from what you will see with a few photos so that you can get an idea. Of course, when a different theme is determined, the sculptures will change accordingly.

Trojan Horse

Chichen Itza

Yi Sun-Shin, a Korean admiral who lived in the 16th century, became an important hero after the victories against Japan. In this sand sculpture, you see Admiral Yi Sun-Shin and the turtle-shaped warship that is unique to Korea.

Frozen Anna

Anna and Olaf the Snowman, one of the heroes of Frozen, a cartoon first published in 2013, is one of the works that will attract the most attention of children.
